Mother's day is a day of celebration for "MOMS" in the world. How about DADS? Are they just merely a complement for mom? Father's day has become more prominent when fathers are involved and contributed more time in their child's life. If you are a single mom, how can you compensate the role of a dad for you child? If you are their child, how can you express your thought for your dad? What other male role could be a father figure for you?
My dad is my hero and I admire him so... He passed away when I was twenty-two years old without any notice. I wasn't prepared for his death and has always thought that he will be with me but the reality is that he passed away in a sudden and didn't leave a "word". I wasn't able to see him face to face nor attended his funeral. It was the worst time of my life which let me aware that I have to redirect all my love to mom and kept his memory alive through his "QUOTES".
I could remember how afraid I was when I was with my dad as a little girl because he was like a stranger to me, and I won't talk to him because I don't know what to say to him. His attitude changed when my family moved to the United States. He spent more time with me and help me understand the American way. We created a bond even thought it took a while to catch up with the missing pieces.
What a wonderful tribute to your father! I also feel that both parents play a vital role in a child's life. We need balanced loving male and female energy to achieve our full potential. Thank you for sharing your memories and inspirational thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThat's a posting full of memories! I think that celebrating Mother's Day or Father's Day or even Children's Day as they do in some countries is just a way of acknowledging those who have influenced our lives in a certain way. Who doe not like to be recognized??? A little statistical information for those interested. Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year in the restaurant business, while Father's Day is just like any other in terms of sales and guest services...would that reflect the role of mothers an how much we appreciate them?
ReplyDeleteWhat a touching, bitter-sweet entry…My father and grandfather are also very much connected to quotes for me. In fact, I didn't know my grandfather very well because he lived in another state, but on his death-bed, my grandmother asked him to write something. On a beautiful piece of paper, he wrote "God is Love". Those words sat framed on my grandmother's desk until her death 24 after his. To me, those words are the essence of my grandparents and represent their mark on the world and their legacy to their kin.
ReplyDelete*24 years after his.
